I am consistently surprised by how many people have not seen Don Hertzfeldt’s animations. Here are his two best: ‘Billy’s Balloon’ and ‘Rejected’. He shoots on 35mm film and animates everything by hand the “old fashioned way”, and once you see the cartoons in their proper quality you’ll never want to look at YouTube again.
