Best Aussie film of 2007.

I’m not one for end-of-year lists or statements (can you tell? It’s midway through February) but The Jammed is a movie that has stuck with me. It’s my favorite Australian film for 2007 in what was a big year for Aussie film. A compelling story on a situation that is unfortunately and uncomfortably typical. A miniscule budget did not stop excellent performances by the superb cast and some talented cinematography which highlighted Melbourne’s painfully dark side in an expert way. This isn’t a movie that ends nicely but you know a film has had an effect on an audience when everyone leaves the cinema in total silence. Definitely see it if you can.
