more Bill Henson news

The Sydney Morning Herald has an excellent summation of the events that have lead to the current situation. Quote of the article is:
Asked a few days before the opening if a new media frenzy was boiling up about the sexualisation of children, Henson told the Herald “there is always something being boiled up. George Steiner once said that the media’s only job is to create and maintain a state of emergency. About what,” he added, laughing, “it doesn’t matter.”

So this is recent, like he wasn’t prohibited from the UK?
That is a crock, some of Henson’s art had already fallen foul of child pornography law, in the UK, they don’t do art, research, hobby, eccentricity to the same extent as the Japanese and Australians. They do sex offenders register, and it was illegal to use some of his photos in London,
I gather the police ( in the EU) are being asked to look for images in flap-overs or sample jpegs on gallery computers. Henson’s geography was being restricted bit by bit, and now he’s under pressure on his own turf.
Yeah, this is current news. Which is bordering on the ridiculous because he’s been doing this kind of work for 20 years.
It’s all more than a little ridiculous.
I had no idea that he’d faced similar problems in the UK, what happened?
