Nicholas Di Genova

May 8, 2008

Not only is Nicholas Di Genova’s work gorgeous and utterly detailed (in the good kind of way) but his website design is also very impressive.

I am a big fan of his nightmarish fantastical style. There are strong graffiti influences in the lines and colours of his works and his choice of subject maintains this, oftentimes appearing as if pages have been torn from a corrupted natural history book. The series ‘The 88 fiercest animals in the…’ I enjoy particularly because of the amount of detail yet sparse and almost abstract appearance.

His website design is similarly accomplished. Designed by Aleph-1 it’s easily navigated and displays the work in a way that just makes me want to say the word lush.

Rostlaub

This hit a few years back, but I’m often surprised by how many people have never seen it. It’s very similar to the Samorost game but much different in style and with a strong street art influence.

MoMA – Design and the Elastic Mind

Website design is a hard thing to do well. And it’s rare that I get excited by a website. The fantastic thing about this one in particular is that I’m even going to get to see the exhibit. Go NYC!

Check it out

And just out of morbid fascination here’s the other side of the fence of website design.

Some work soon.

March 19, 2007

I started this blog so as could post both the insane things that I find while browsing the internet, and also any work that I happen to be working on. As yet I haven’t posted any work, but it is on it’s way. Meanwhile, while talking to Danyka today I was reminded of these old yet still freaky items of interest. Check them out to see what might have slipped through the cracks of your intertubenal awareness.

Rapid Prototyping connected with Motion Capture Technology. It’s geek on geek action mixed with design for a hot-hot-hot three-way.
