Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler

May 25, 2010

Well, this poor blog has had a very hard weekend and has only just now on Tuesday evening woken up from the hangover and gotten back to business. On Friday it was hacked and then before I could fix it, Dreamhost servers started going down and I wasn’t able to do a thing until they came back online. Finally today it’s looking much better, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Let’s celebrate with this magnificent performance by Kristen Schaal and her cohort Kurt Braunohler (and by the way, I could kill the person who put an ad break in the middle of this).

Chocky (opening titles)

January 26, 2010

Watching Chocky is one of my earliest memories as a child, which probably explains a lot. While the book is exceptional, the childrens show which grew out of it in the 80s was wondrously dark and foreboding, and featured magnificent effects.

Not the Nine O’Clock News – “Pythonists”

May 14, 2009

Pure brilliance. The cast of “Not The Nine O’Clock News” discussing the huge controversy which surrounded Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” when it was released. “Not The Nine O’Clock News” owed a lot to Monty Python however it quickly established itself as a melting pot for a whole slew of up and coming comedic writers (whole careers would be launched from this show, Douglas Adams was an early writer and the series Blackadder was formed from one of the sketches).
