It’s criminal that I’ve been unaware of Lenny Bruce till now. I saw this on a whim and it rocked my world. Check it out and then go buy some Lenny Bruce albums.

So my 12 year old self is climbing the walls with excitement to see this. My 29 year old self is also pretty impressed.

Solaris is well worth your time. I haven’t seen the remake, so there’ll be no comparisons here but the original is such an exceptional film I haven’t yet risked watching the Hollywood version.

Set aboard an orbiting space station above the planet Solaris, psychologist Kris Kelvin is sent to investigate the crews hallucinations and destructive behaviour. Quickly however he begins to experience a remarkably self-aware hallucination when he wakes up to find his dead wife in his quarters, now seemingly very much alive.

With only a small cast (which includes the planet Solaris itself, a bubbling, churning ever present entity), and set on a small space station, it is a beautifully shot and exceptionally well paced film.
