Went out with Julia (sorry no link, she’s geek through association only) the other week and took some shots of the area just behind Toast. Was going really well until we got booted out by a security guard for taking photos of government buildings. Here’s what I got before getting turfed out.
I cannot get this song out of my head. I heard thirty seconds of it the other day and I haven’t been able to get the beat out of my mind until I found the video clip on youtube. The band is Battles and their album is out mid-may.
Miranda July has a great idea and makes the website promoting her new book on a white-board. Not only is it quite funny, but it endears you to her writing style before you even think about the book. If nothing else it’s a perfect example of how simple and easy a great idea is on the interwebs.
Just to prove to everyone who I’ve told about this (anyone who’s stood still near me in the past few weeks) that I’m not talking out my ass. iPhone who?
Been meaning to post this for a while. Got frustrated and annoyed with myself, and finally pulled it off my camera and stuck it up. Hope you enjoy, it’s the backyard of my house. I did plan on having Neal in it but it was cold and he kept moving so he came out all blurry. I want a faster lens (say for instance this one).
I mentioned this to Owen the other night and thought that I’d better post it. The first video is Rowan Atkinson (then of Not the Nine O’Clock news fame, and soon to be of Blackadder) and Kate Bush singing a song that Rowan wrote (possibly nsfw).
The second video is a skit that Rowan helped to write about Kate Bush that was performed on Not the Nine O’Clock News (maybe nsfw).
If you’re unsure of who either Kate Bush or Rowan Atkinson is then first implode with shame and then go watch Wuthering Heights and the genius General Synod’s Life of Christ which is a Not the Nine O’Clock News tribute sketch to Monty Python.
A little while ago I was on the bus going past the construction sites in the city and I took the pics below. The tree at the top of this building site made me laugh uncontrollably. If I was in charge of a crane I’d be doing stuff like this all the time but apparently this isn’t a stunt, it’s a tradition called topping off.
But the tree is the key symbol and it is not, as many might suppose, a holiday touch. In the high-steel trade, it announces that the construction has reached the sky without loss of life or serious injury. And it is meant to auger well for the future inhabitants of the building.
So I’ve got a new Ipod Nano. It’s a sexy and slim little 2gb and I want to keep it safe and away from harm. Especially for when I travel, iPods are probably the most likely items to be stolen. So what do I do? I do what this intelligent person has done and make my own case for it. A secret case. Out of a boring book which no thief would think to take. Plus I have the added advantage of being an uber geek and thus more likely to procreate than you.
