The Beastie Boys video for their latest single “The Rat Cage” was filmed in Melbourne? How do I know? Watch it and see. The NYC boys have some iconic Ostrayan symbols throughout the video clip.

Of a consistently high quality is the site 365 Portraits. A new portrait for every single day of the year, the subjects are as varied as the techniques used. The photographs are slways interesting and sometimes compelling, and a great achievement by Bill Wadman to remain at such a high level of production both in […]
This has popped up in conversation twice in the last couple of days, so here it is. Laugh at our silly, gullible gaijin selves and next time, ask for it to be cooked.

How did I miss this one? Fantastic style, ho hum plot.
A change of gears for the Coen Brothers, it looks really good!

I’ve been keen to take some portrait shots lately, just to try out my new lens. These are some of the better shots:
This is a photo of a sign out the front of a Thai restaurant in Japan, taken by my buddy George just a week or two ago. One big ‘what the hell?’ Are the condoms on the cabbages or are the condoms for you to use with the cabbages? Generally speaking I’m not used to […]

I am consistently surprised by how many people have not seen Don Hertzfeldt’s animations. Here are his two best: ‘Billy’s Balloon’ and ‘Rejected’. If you’re interested, there’s some more links to others beneath. Also, check out his site Bitter Films for DVD copies of his animations as well as merchandise and Don’s online journal.

Been away for a while, so here’s a slew of typographic love for you. The first of which is a beautiful video clip from the MK12 crew. The second, if you missed it, are some of the motion graphics and titles of the Stranger than Fiction movie as well as the rejected titles, all by […]

A slow start, but bear with it. Nice take on animation and video together.

It’s been decided. The worst point in the 80’s has been found and identified, about midway through this clip. It’s like the winter solstice, every day after this is a little bit warmer and full of light.

Well, I don’t have my jetpack, flying car or hoverboard just yet, but at least I can bend my screen? Ripped off (but still kinda cool).
A short excerpt from a 1986 film Down By Law. A film directed by Jim Jarmusch, starring Roberto Benigni, Tom Waits and John Lurie.
And the trailer is quite well done also. Thankfully free of any huge plot revelations and most importantly doesn’t reveal an inevitable ending.

I’ve been reading when I should be working, but I have found some interesting stuff. Particularly this article about the Sworn Virgins of Albania. There’s video as well, but I couldn’t get it to work.

I was interviewed by Triple J’s ACT Arts reporter Marianne Mettes about my animation Interference You can hear it on Triple J, or you can read the article or listen to the interview at The Program
Bjork’s new video clip is one that’s been created by two fans. After an online competition that generated over 500 submissions this was the entry that was chosen as the official video clip for the new single. Via Wired
Spent some time doing a redesign of my website. I’ve finally put a couple of my animations up, so please take a look and let me know what you think.

What makes a kickass song even more kickassier? An awesome video clip. And what makes a video clip even more awesomer? A cheer squad of furries on bikes. Back-up dancing/riding. In time.

You know that moment when you see something and you think, damnit that’s exactly what I was trying to do, only they did it better.
This video is that moment for me, dammit.
Ah well, I’ll take it as a challenge and outdo them next time…
